[HOW TO]Make Word documents read only

Many people prefer to use pdf files over word documents while distributing files. As pdf files are easy to make “read only”. But many of us do not know that the same thing can be done in MS Word too. We can make even word documents read only. Follow the steps given below to make your word document read only.

  1. Open your document in MS Word.
  2. Click on “Tools” . You can find it on menu bar.
  3. Now click on Protect Document.

  4. A sidebar will appear on right side.
  5. Under Editing Restrictions select Read Only option.
  6. Now click on “Yes, Start enforcing protection”
  7. Now enter the password when asked and you are done.

    I don’t know if there is a way to break read-only word. However I do know a way to unlock the protected pdf. Using anybizsoft pdf to word converter 2.0, I can change protected pdf to word. So maybe read-only word can be cracked too.
