Google Chrome is your new free PDF reader

Many of you might not be aware of this but you can use your favorite web browser Google Chrome as a free PDF viewer. No need to  install any additional softwares just to read a PDF document :-) .  Google Chrome comes with a built in plugin named  ”Chrome PDF Reader” which allows the users to open and read PDF documents inside the browser.

To open a PDF file using Chrome just right click on the document you want to open and select “Open with” and then select Google Chrome from the list of programs.

If in case it does not work then make sure that your Chrome plugin is enabled. To do so type about:plugins in your address bar and press enter. There look out for Chrome PDF Reader plugin and enable it if its disabled.

My 3 months old operating system crashed today, What a pain in the *** , The worst part of an OS failure is that you have to take a backup of everything or else you are screwed.  I really hate taking backups , Eh! really boring stuff, But hey whats the option ?

Here is what I do, to avoid these situations: I make periodic online backups. If you keep on updating your backup folders from time to time, You will save a lot of time your self when your OS or Hard Drive crashes.

The first option that comes to my mind is Windows Live Sky Drive it offers 25 GB free storage & can be used for virtually almost anything.

If you want to keep your pictures in backup, Try using Google Picasa or Flickr

If you want to keep your movies and videos in backup nothing beats Youtube (Yes you can keep your videos private and no one can view them without your permissions :)  ).

If you want to keep a backup copy of Word/Excell/PPT/ PDF files, Try Google Docs (The coolest web service i have ever seen)

To backup your music files you will have to use sky drive.

Check if your gmail Account is hacked?

I received a weired mail from my friend Stella last night, I was chatting with her within Gmail itself and I recieved this mail from her.

Message Subject: I need help, Plz wire me 10k it’s urgent.

Message Body : Hi , I am in urgent need of 10k, please forward me the money through ********************

I was more of like shocked and angry, I mean I am a tech guy, How could she try to fool me with such stuff that too when I am on chat with her only, So I replied: “You Idiot, Stop kidding me!”

But in few seconds i received another reply from her saying, “I am not joking or anything as such, I seriously need your help, let me know if you can help ” ?

Shit! I said, I called her and asked what was this all about? She replied nothing & denied the entire mail thing. I was now pretty sure that her account was hacked,

We just confirmed it in few seconds, How ?  :?

It is very easy to check if somebody is using your gmail account?

All you need to do is scroll down to your gmail page & check what IP’s are using your account. If you see anything that says

“This account is currently being used in 1 other location at this IP (125.99.11.111) “, It means you have a proble there, You need to click on the Details link present there as shown in the image below.

If you see something like “Last account activity: 53 minutes ago on this computer.  Details”

Then all you need to do is to click on the details link in the footer for just a little more verification.
Once you click details you will see a popup window that shows up like this, You will be able to check last 10 IPS that opened your account and their browser details. All you need to do now is to click on the button that says “Sign out of All other active sessions”.
As a precaution you should also consider changing your password, You may change it here.
When we start feeling that if somebody is using our account, We usually start to panic, But there is really nothing to worry about. You easily block the other person’s access using the steps above.
