Last month Google announced launch of its amazingly cheap Nexus 7 tablet. As I am writing this Nexus 7 is now available for pre-orders. Nexus 7 is Google’s take on iPad as well as Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Kindle Fire is the only potential rival of it in this price range.

After looking at the specs you can clearly see why Nexus 7 is better than Kindle Fire. It outcasts Kindle Fire in almost every aspect. Against the customized Android 2.3 of Kindle Fire, Nexus 7 will be coming with Jelly Bean (Android 4.1). Better screen resolution, bluetooth, front facing camera, 1.3 Ghz processor, 1 GB RAM and 10 hrs of battery life are few of the highlights of this new tablet.
Nexus 7 will cost 199 USD for 8 GB model and the 16 GB model will come for 249 USD. The 8 GB model with lot more features is priced same as the Amazon’s Kindle Fire . If the rumors are to be believed we have heard that Amazon has started preparing for Kindle Fire 2 to stay in the competition. Whoever wins the battle, consumers will be the one gaining from it :).
For our Indian readers : I was thinking to add Karbonn Smart Tab along with these two quality tablets. But after reading some user reviews of it I changed my mind. There are rumors that Nexus 7 will be available in India in next 3 months. But you can never say what’s going to happen. As we all know Nexus One and Nexus S were never launched in India. As per this article here Nexus 7 will be made available in India from October – 12. Though the price is not fixed yet.
